Healing
Healing: What does it mean?
The dictionary defines healings as:
• to make healthy, whole, or sound; restore to health; free from ailment.
• to bring to an end or conclusion, as conflicts between people or groups, usually with the strong implication of restoring former amity; settle; reconcile:
Example: They tried to heal the rift between them but were unsuccessful.
NLT Bible Define Healing as:
• marked by restoring to original purity or integrity
When we look at these definitions, we understand that Jesus just wasn’t sent to heal us physically but spiritually as well. In the beginning Adam and Eve did not have to worry about death. They were built to last forever than man disobeyed God and apart of the punishment was death. It was not physical first it was spiritual.
Genesis 2:16-17 New King James Version (NKJV)
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
The moment Adam ate of the tree of Good and Evil it was over. The spiritual death took place. There was no way for man to get back to God. God being so mighty and powerful already had a plan. Isaiah 53:5, which is then quoted in 1 Peter 2:24, is a key verse on healing, but it is often misunderstood and misapplied. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” The word translated “healed” can mean either spiritual or physical healing. However, the contexts of Isaiah 53 and 1 Peter 2 makes it clear that it is speaking of spiritual healing. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed”
God knows that if can get you healed spiritually, the physical will come. Whether that be down here in the earth or in heaven. A lot of sickness and illness, comes from us not being healed spiritually carrying around, anxiety, unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, and hatred, this stuff will eat you up inside. We have to allow God to heal out broken hearts.
• Psalm 147:3 New International Version (NIV) 3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
• Jeremiah 17:14 New International Version (NIV)14 Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.
Sickness did not come from the God, it come from sin, But God is in the healing business.
Ultimately, our full physical healing awaits us in heaven. Revelation 21:4 describes the true healing we should all be longing for: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Our physical bodies weren’t meant to last but God has entrusted us with them. We have to do our parts to make to keep them health so, we can do the work of the lord. We are going to have aches, pains, sickness, and injuries but we need to make sure that our spiritual bodies can be with the lord. The enemy wants us to worry about the physical more than the spiritual. We don’t want to be looking good, feeling good, and going to hell. Let’s get healed!
