When talking about division we are not talking about how many times 5 goes into 20, or 2 into 10. We talking about are you walking in sprit or in your flesh. Division is a part of a born-again believer’s life. There are 2 sides to division. We need to know is God or enemy bringing about the division. Somebody is saying God doesn’t cause division. Yes! He does. Let’s look at it. God will bring division. Luke 12:53 53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother-in-law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother-in-law. In this verse Jesus was talking about division among believers and unbelievers some of these unbelievers will be a part of our families. some people would not only reject Christ they will be upset with anyone that received Him. Don’t think it is strange when family members don’t call you as much, or friends stop coming around. A division is happening, we think that our families are against us when the truth of the matter they are against Christ and since you are on his side you get hit too.
Satan has been causing division since we’ve heard of him. Look at the division he caused in Heaven. 1/3 of the angels went with him. We know he played his part in Man being separated from God in the garden of Eden. There is strength in numbers and the enemy knows that, so he will cause division to weaken us. One can put 1000 and 2 can put 10,000. Deuteronomy 32:30. The enemy knows to divide means to conquer. The enemy has no new tricks. He is trying to play us against each other, he can only do this though if we allow him and he can do this more easily if we are carnal/fleshy. Paul makes it very clear in I Corinthians 3:3 that some of us having God's Spirit are still carnal! That is, we are very weak in the faith. As he points out in that same scripture, the result is "envy, strife, and divisions." Those three are sufficient to produce anything but oneness. The enemy does not want us to became one, because when we get with one accord there is nothing we can do. You see we need each other to make it, and if he can cause division he will do so. I don’t like the way the way they talked to me, so now I’m upset. They handle me the wrong way so now I’m offended. The enemy uses the anger, the offence, the discouragement, the impatience to divide. Because we allow the enemy to talk to us in these situations instead of God. It grows into something bigger than what it has too. Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? Know who is causing the division that is happening in your life and make a decision to follow God or Rebuke the enemy. United we as individuals stand and can take ground for the Kingdom, divided we have no strength or power.
