Depression

Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. You're not alone. Globally, more than 264 million people of all ages suffer from depression. Just because we are Christians does not mean we are exempt. Depression is a tool the enemy uses to keep us in bondage. When you are depressed you don’t want to be around anyone, you feel tired, your sleep pattern changes, you can overeat, or undereat, and you are persistently sad. The enemy knows if can keep you isolated; he can win. There is strength in numbers so if he can keep you away from people it works to his benefit. You matter! You are important to the body of Christ. It is so important that when you start feeling depressed you speak with someone that you trust and has Godly wisdom. Most of time we become depressed because we feel our emotions/feelings are not being heard. Talking is a good way to relieve

stress and stop depression. Holidays can bring about depression. Thinking about all the things we can’t afford, the love ones that have passed away, or just being alone for the holidays. This is why fellowship is so good. Being around others keeps your mind focus on what is in front of you, the life we have at this moment. It is never as bad as it seems. This doesn’t mean we don’t miss our love ones it just means we have new memories we are starting that makes are hearts happy and if we allow God to heal our brokenness, we can have unspeakable Joy. Now that we know what depression does to us and how it effects our lives. We can do what it takes to not allow it over take us. Here are a few things we can do to overcome depression:

· Be thankful, Thank God for all things

· Stop complaining, in whatever situation you are in found peace in it

· Pray about everything, God hears us, and will answer us

· Talk to someone with Godly wisdom

· Be around like-minded people

· Do outside activities

Remember you are more than a conquer through Jesus Christ our Lord. You can and will get through this. This holiday season focus on what you have accomplished not your failures.
